Chandelier & Pendant Hanging

Securely mounting heavy or delicate aesthetic light fixtures in dining rooms or entryways.

Here’s what to know. This guide explains the type of work and why it can be needed. It is not a remote diagnosis or a do-it-yourself wiring tutorial.

What does this involve?

Securely mounting heavy or delicate aesthetic light fixtures in dining rooms or entryways.

How does it work?

A pendant or chandelier needs a box and support suited to its weight. The right mounting height depends on the fixture and the space below it.

What affects the job?

High ceilings and heavy fixtures may need extra support or equipment. Share the fixture model, weight, and a photo of the current ceiling location.

What should you tell us?

A photo of the fixture and where it would go, ceiling height, and whether there is already a working light or fan there. You do not need to know the electrical terms. Tell us what you see and what you want to change.

Electrical safety: Do not take apart switches, outlets, panels, wiring, or equipment based on online advice. If you notice heat, sparks, smoke, or a burning smell, stop using the affected equipment and contact a qualified electrician. For immediate danger or fire, call 911.

Keep safety in mind

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s home electrical checklist explains common warning signs. For generator-related jobs, see the Electrical Safety Foundation International’s generator guidance. Any code or permit decision needs to be checked for the actual property.

Is this what you need help with?

Tell us a little about your project and where you're located. We'll confirm whether it's a job we can take on and explain the next step.
