Here’s what to know. This guide explains the type of work and why it can be needed. It is not a remote diagnosis or a do-it-yourself wiring tutorial.
What does this involve?
Tracking down buried open connections or hidden junction boxes causing whole rooms to lose power.
How does it work?
A dead circuit may have a tripped protective device, a loose connection, or an open conductor somewhere upstream. What appears to be one failed outlet may affect a whole room.
What affects the job?
An electrician can trace the circuit safely and check where power stops. Tell us which rooms and outlets are affected.
What should you tell us?
The warning signs you noticed, when they started, and photos from a safe distance. Do not open panels or covers to take pictures. You do not need to know the electrical terms. Tell us what you see and what you want to change.
Keep safety in mind
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s home electrical checklist explains common warning signs. For generator-related jobs, see the Electrical Safety Foundation International’s generator guidance. Any code or permit decision needs to be checked for the actual property.
Is this what you need help with?
Tell us a little about your project and where you're located. We'll confirm whether it's a job we can take on and explain the next step.
