Here’s what to know. This guide explains the type of work and why it can be needed. It is not a remote diagnosis or a do-it-yourself wiring tutorial.
What does this involve?
Performing a point-by-point safety evaluation for home buyers, sellers, or older properties.
How does it work?
An electrical inspection looks for visible warning signs, condition of equipment, and areas needing further evaluation. It is not the same as opening every wall to inspect concealed wiring.
What affects the job?
The home's age, inspection purpose, access, and specific concerns shape what is included. Ask what the inspection report covers before booking.
What should you tell us?
The warning signs you noticed, when they started, and photos from a safe distance. Do not open panels or covers to take pictures. You do not need to know the electrical terms. Tell us what you see and what you want to change.
Keep safety in mind
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s home electrical checklist explains common warning signs. For generator-related jobs, see the Electrical Safety Foundation International’s generator guidance. Any code or permit decision needs to be checked for the actual property.
Is this what you need help with?
Tell us a little about your project and where you're located. We'll confirm whether it's a job we can take on and explain the next step.
