Here’s what to know. This guide explains the type of work and why it can be needed. It is not a remote diagnosis or a do-it-yourself wiring tutorial.
What might be happening?
Identifying electrical or low-voltage issues that may cause unwanted speaker noise.
How does it work?
Some audio systems pick up noise from nearby power equipment, faulty cable shields, or a ground-loop problem. Noise can also start inside an amplifier.
What affects the job?
We would check which devices and connections produce the noise first. Electrical and AV troubleshooting may be separate scopes.
What should you tell us?
What stopped working, when it happens, and any noises, heat, smells, or visible damage. Do not attempt to recreate a fault for a photo. You do not need to know the electrical terms. Tell us what you see and what you want to change.
Keep safety in mind
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s home electrical checklist explains common warning signs. For generator-related jobs, see the Electrical Safety Foundation International’s generator guidance. Any code or permit decision needs to be checked for the actual property.
Is this what you need help with?
Tell us a little about your project and where you're located. We'll confirm whether it's a job we can take on and explain the next step.
